Honors Program Is A Great Feeling - 936 Words

Hearing your name in a sentence after graduating with honors is a great feeling. That feeling of accomplishment and acknowledgment is completely due for the work you put in. Except, what does honors really mean? Is honors achieved the same way at Clayton State as in Georgia State? Does honors have the same goal in both of these institutions? The Clayton State’s Honors program’s initiative is to create critical thinkers, strong writers, and community involved individuals. I believe the Clayton State Honors Program does not provide exemplary results in critical thinking and improved writing skills or allows students to explore personal interest compared to a History Minor. How is the Clayton State University Honors Program formatted? The Honors program is organized of four pre-selected courses: World History, Intro to Philosophy, Critical Thinking, and Aesthetics, with two contract courses or research projects. The two contract courses can be filled with Study Abroad clas ses or selecting a normal class of your interest and enhancing it to the Honors level. What exactly is the honors level of work at Clayton State? Alexander Hall the president of the Honors College stated that â€Å"The honors level of work usually requires extra assignments and more in-depth lectures of topics the normal classes would cover.† Work is sometimes more creative, like being given research projects and being allowed to work directly under professors on assignments. Sonnet 138 - 1084 Words

Truth and honesty are key elements to a good, healthy relationship. However, in Shakespeares Sonnet 138, the key to a healthy relationship between the speaker and the Dark Lady is keeping up the lies they have constructed for one another. Through wordplay Shakespeare creates different levels of meaning, in doing this, he shows the nature of truth and flattery in relationships. Shakespeares Sonnet 138 is one of his sonnets about the Dark Lady. Dark both in appearance, and in her actions, she is once again the subject of the sonnet. The speaker is the lover of the Dark Lady. Whether the speaker is married to her or not is not completely clear. Based on lines regarding age â€Å"...she knows my days are past the best† (6), it seems†¦show more content†¦In the second quatrain, the speaker is talking more about growing old, and the fact that both of them are lying to each other. This quatrain confirms what is set up in the first quatrain, that she treats him like he is a younger man than he is. The line â€Å"Thus vainly thinking that she thinks me young†(5) is the speaker telling us that he is tricking himself into believing that she thinks he is like a younger man. The speaker is not very confident at all. He lets his own vanity get in the way of the Dark Ladys infidelities. She tells him what he wants to hear even though she knows its not true, as is evident when the speaker says â€Å"Although she knows my days are past the best†(6) and he gladly accepts these lies. With her accepting the lie that he is a younger man, in return, he must accept the lie that she is telling him. In the last line of the quatrain, the line â€Å"On both sides thus is a simple truth suppressd†(8) says that both the speaker and the Dark Lady are ignoring reality in order to keep the status quo of their relationship. In order to feel better about themselves. In the last quatrain, the speaker seems to be justifying the mutual lying th at is going on between the two. He starts by asking â€Å"why doesnt she just tell me she is unfaithful?† and â€Å"why dont I just admit I am old?†, but this turns out to be rhetoricalShow MoreRelatedSonnet 1381545 Words   |  7 Pagesorder for a poem to be classified as a sonnet, it must meet certain structural requirements, and Sonnet 138, quot; When my love swears that she is made of truth, quot; is a perfect example. Exhibit Bronze Statue Entitled Women Samples †MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the Exhibit Bronze Statue Entitled Women. Answer: Exhibit: Bronze Statue entitled Women Are Persons! This exhibit explores Albertas Famous Five, petitioners in one of Canadas most famous case entitled Persons Case. It was in 1927 when the case was tabled before Canadas Supreme Court followed by a decision in the Judicial Council of Britains Privy Council (Canadas highest ranking court at the moment) in 1929. Essentially, the five women had been involved in vigorous campaigns aimed at advocating for womens rights and they enjoyed both an international and national reputation. Why I Choose the Topic For too long, the literature on Canadian history has focused more on the great men of Canada while seemingly excluding the women. Notably, the women of Canada, as in the case of the Famous Five, impacted the history of Canada in one way or another. Though it was not easy, women successfully filled the new roles created by wartime demands, while maintaining the roles of traditional females. Hence, there is need to grant the women their worthy recognition. Inclusions to the Exhibit The message, as encoded by the exhibit, will be explained to the audience through the use of a small booklet. The booklet will be placed just above the exhibit so that the people who come along will just have to flip through the pages to get the deeper meaning of the portrait. Medium to be used The exhibition will be presented in form of an essay through MS Word. Sources to be used The sources used for this work are scholarly sources, also known as academic sources. They will include books, published expert reports, newspapers, videos, websites, and journal articles as outlined in the reference section below. References Dunstan, A. (2014).
